Ecto Fantasy, Part
2
Okay, let's take care of business first. The
Ghostbusters characters are not mine, and this story
is inspired by one of the greatest RPGs of all time, Squaresoft's 'Chrono Cross'. Takes place after "The
Trial." -

*RING* *RING*
A hand lifts from a form sleeping on a couch and answers it.
"This had better be be good...
hello... what... why do I have the feeling I'm not going to enjoy this... They
in on this too... fine I'll be there as soon as I find my pants."
He hangs up the phone, sits up and
looks at the clock on the wall.
"Time to save the world
again..."
*****
"I don't believe he called them," said Eduardo.
"We can handle this."
"Hey, I'm grateful they agreed
to help," said Roland.
"And also, who else could help
us?" asked Kevin.
"Gar..." started
Kylie, but then she saw Eduardo tense up. Kevin saw this also.
"But till they get here, we
might as well check one of this gates out," said Roland.
"Good idea, let's
go," said Kevin, as he headed for the door.
"Shamrock wait!" yelled
Eduardo, but Kevin kept going. Ed looked at Kylie & Roland. Roland shrugged
and then went after Kevin, Kylie walked over to him.
"You can't keep expected
him to be like Garrett," she says.
"Says who, one minute he's
all gung-ho, the next..."
"Look you better sort this
thing out, before someone gets hurt." And with that, Kylie headed out the
door.

Elsewhere, in another place if not time, but still had a sense of familiarality
to it. People were running as soldiers occupied the city. A young man tried to
fight back, but was easily knocked aside.
"Resisting the forces of Rajos
is futille."
*****
Back in the normal work... The Ghostbusters made their way to the gateway in New
York. When they found it, they were amazed at how simple it looked.
"We came all this way for
that?" asked Eduardo.
"For something as simple
as that, its PKE readings are off the scale," responded
Kylie.
"So, how do we close this
thing?" asked Kevin.
"We could try using the proton
packs," suggested Roland.
"In what way?" "We
could cross the streams..."
"Yo, Rolo, that's a no-go,
remember that'll cause some type of reversal or something," said
Eduardo.
"What about detonating
them?" asked Kylie.
"That did close off the realm of
the Boogieman back in the 80s," said Roland.
"Yeah, but there are several
gates around the world, and we only have 12 proton packs, and that's counting
the original equipment," said Kevin.
"Let's think for a..."
started Kylie.
"Hey look!" yelled Eduardo,
as he pointed at the gateway. It was obvious that their was some kind of
activity, as it expanded. Out of it came several creatures, all wearing armor
that had a dark look to it.
"What the heck are those
things?" asked Roland as he pulled out his proton rifle.
"Whatever they are, their PKE
readings match that of a class J," answered Kylie.
"In the name of Rajos,"
one of them shouted. "This world now belongs to her!"
The Ghostbusters took steps back as
the creatures moved forward, unsure to fire or
not.
"Hey, these things are giving
off PKE signatures right?" asked Kevin.
"What's your point?" asked
Eduardo. "Shouldn't the packs work on them then?"
"Don't know, let's try,"
said Eduardo.
"On Three," said Roland.
"THREE!"
The Ghostbusters fired and hit
the first few creatures dead center, pushing them back, but they quickly shook
off the effects.
"You got to be kidding me!"
yelled Eduardo.
"Anybody got a plan
B?" asked Kevin.
"How about get the heck out of
here!" said Roland.
"Short, simple, to the
point, I like it!"
With that the Ghostbusters took off
running for the Ecto-1. Roland & Eduardo made it first and tried to give
Kylie & Kevin cover fire, but the faster creatures caught them.
"You shall be made
examples of those who resist Rajos," said one, and they went back through
the gate, as Roland & Eduardo came running to the rescue, but it was too
late.
"Where they go?!" asked
Eduardo, "And who is this Rajos?"
"We better get back to the
firehouse and ask Egon," said Roland.
